The client is one of the fastest-growing retail chains in India. A popular retail destination in the UAE, the chain also has a strong presence in other countries including GCC, Egypt, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
In India, the chain has massive expansion plans with a planned investment of crores. A key pillar of the expansion strategy is the rollout of large stores in important urban centers all over India.
The client supplies products in a vast range of product categories like Grocery, Food, Home appliances, Fashion and Apparel, Electronics, Home living, and more.
The client was conscious of the massive scale of challenges it could face with the opening of multiple stores at such a rapid rate. The problem was exacerbated by the millions of SKUs. To address these challenges, the client had already implemented SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Commerce Cloud solutions.
However, they found challenges in delivering the speed and scale they desired. There were several challenges in the existing SAP commerce functionality implementation, such as –
- Lack of comprehensive documentation
- No knowledgebase was created, or knowledge transfer carried out
- Absence of testing scenarios
- No proper SOPs for process building
- Lack of support in design, testing, and deployment
Because of these challenges, post the initial implementation, the client could not
- Optimally use the already implemented features as they were not even aware of the implemented functionality
- Implement new features and functionality
These problems were severely constraining the client’s ability to roll out new stores.
