About The Client

The client is a US-based shoe manufacturer known for designing and manufacturing comfortable and stylish men's and women's shoes. The company sells its products in more than 60 countries through various retail channels.

Business Challenge

The client ran their commerce sites on SAP Hybris Commerce Version 6.0 - an outdated on-premises commerce cloud. They started to experience performance challenges with a few features. Considering the company’s solid reputation of 40 years, it decided to migrate the Commerce Site to the more modernized and latest version of SAP Commerce. They wanted to migrate components like Hybris Commerce, Middleware, Search, and Digital Asset Solution.

They wanted to complete the project in 15 weeks. As Sapours was the existing System Integration Partner with deep knowledge and expertise in SAP solutions and a solid understanding of the client’s business, the client decided to work with Sapours for the migration process.

The Sapours Approach and Solution

While undertaking the upgrade exercise, it was important to ensure that the downtime is minimal, the new features are easy to use, and the upgrade does not cause any disruptions in the day-to-day operations of the commerce sites.

The Sapours team of SAP experts took a hybrid approach of upgrading the technology and rewriting the features that posed challenges as per the new version of features.

Our work entailed:
  • Creating a new data hub and setting up a new backoffice Console to manage all the website operations and functions, such as customers, products, and orders. We also enabled cross-selling and upselling and SAP Hybris profile-driven personalization to deliver real-time personalized and contextually relevant services to customers.
  • Upgrading to the latest SOLR version 7.2.
  • Upgrading to the new Assisted Service Module (ASM) to improve performance based on Restful web services.
  • Enabling SmartEdit, a next-generation Web Content Management System (WCMS), to create relevant and personalized content and product pages and upgrading the promotion rule engine to manage various promotions on the storefront.
  • Resolving 12 existing B2B issues in the commerce upgrade project.

Benefits

  • The Middleware version upgrade improved the average processing by 53%.
  • The SOLR upgrade led to a 30-40% improvement in SOLR indexing, improving how data was stored and indexed.
  • All these enhancements improved the average response time of commerce sites. The average response time for the commerce sites is less than 3.63.
  • By upgrading to the latest SAP Commerce Cloud, we have put the client’s site on an auto-upgrade mode to ensure it is continuously updated. The company can now benefit from all the latest features and innovations from SAP with respect to this version.
