About The Client

The client is a leading agrochemicals manufacturing company in India and the largest manufacturer of Urea in the private sector. The company accounts for about 13% of the total Urea produced in India. The company’s three plants are equipped with the state-of-the-art technology from Denmark, Italy, United States and Japan and have an installed annual production capacity of about 3.4 million MT of Urea and.

The Business Needs and Goals

The client was already using SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) to centralise digital information from various sources to get a 360-degree of the company’s operations. However, they had two primary goals:

Goal 1 - SAP Automation

  • The client wanted to automate and streamline their service procurement processes for primary and secondary freight cost bookings. They wanted to reduce the manual tasks involved in procurement to improve customer experience.
  • Additionally, they wanted to enhance various SAP modules, including FI, CO, PP, MM, SD, QM, PM, DMS, HR, and Payroll, and optimize business efficiency through customizations.
  • They also wanted to conduct a comprehensive SAP health assessment, identify opportunities for enhancement, and craft a strategic roadmap to improve the overall performance of the applications.

Goal 2 - Application Management Services

  • The client wanted technical support for SAP modules, including FICO, SD, MM, PP, QM, DMS, BASIS, HR, Payroll, and ABAP, during India business hours.
  • They also wanted to provide on-call support for the above SAP functions to troubleshoot problems, minimize downtime, and ensure the customer experience was not impacted during off-business hours.

Since the client wanted to achieve two different business goals, we worked on them in phases.

Phase 1 - Automating freight management

  • Established best-practices-based approach: We established industry best practices to design and configure solutions across modules of SAP FICO, SAP MM, SAP SD, PP and QM.
  • Automated procurement processes: We automated the entire service procurement process and also the service entry sheets acceptance for primary and secondary freight cost bookings. This helped in reducing manual interventions, enhancing efficiency, minimizing errors, improving accuracy, and ensuring better tracking and reporting of procurement and payment activities.

  • Built ITSM Tool for Incident, Service Request, and Change Management: We developed an IT service management tool to enable IT teams to manage incidents and service requests efficiently. This helped the team track the incidents and requests and ensure they were addressed and closed within the stipulated SLA.
  • Ad-Hoc Support Model for SAP Functional and BASIS Requests: We develop an ad-hoc support model for SAP functional and BASIS requests to enable the IT team to resolve urgent or unscheduled requests on priority.
