About The Client

The client is a US-based product company that automates access control, process enforcement, and cyber security for the world’s largest enterprises. Their solution is the only one that SAP endorses for extending SAP Access Control to cloud and non-SAP systems. This makes them the leader in application security and control automation.

Business Need

The client’s existing software product was developed and tested on SAP’s Enterprise Central Component (ECC). However, they wanted to deploy and test the same product on SAP S/4 HANA’s latest releases.

However, the client was unaware of SAP’s functional areas. They could not identify the specific data or objects to be migrated during the transition.

They needed a specialist who had a deep understanding of SAP ECC and S/4 HANA and who could take the entire ownership of completing the migration process successfully.

Since Sapours has helped companies with end-to-end SAP planning and implementation, the client partnered with us to complete the migration process.

The Sapours Approach - Solution-Driven and Customer-Centric

Here’s how our team of SAP specialists helped the client migrate from SAP ECC to SAP S/4 HANA.

  • Understanding the requirements and project planning: Since the client had limited knowledge about SAP solutions, best practices, and possibilities, our team started by understanding the end-to-end needs. After a thorough understanding, they developed a project plan comprising all migration and content activation phases in the S/4 HANA system. This helped us take a structured approach to migration.
  • Prepared the client for migration: Our team identified specific objects and tables that could be migrated to SAP S/4 HANA once the plan was approved.
They also helped the client identify migration tools that required no additional costs and recommended using SAP’s Data Services (DS) with ETL capabilities. The team made this recommendation, taking into consideration the minimum hardware requirement.
The team also created templates during the design phase within SAP DS. These templates used for the specific migration project were referenced and used in subsequent migration projects. Moreover, it helped in reducing the overall timeline of the project.
  • Timely delivery despite hurdles: Our team faced multiple issues related to data types and mapping data to new tables in SAP S/4 HANA. However, the team took full ownership of the project, and using their knowledge and experience they overcame these challenges and completed it successfully in record two weeks.

Impact

Our team completed the entire project in a record ten weeks. There were zero outages on business users during migration, which ensured business continuity.

After the successful migration, the client experienced the following benefits -

  • Facility Management System (FMS) outages reduced from four hours to just 15 minutes.
  • A 30% improvement in the overall system performance, leading to increased productivity and smoother operations.
