This release of SAP Commerce Cloud reflects the dedication of SAP to make SAP Commerce Cloud a truly headless commerce with great customer experiences. It is the 5th version of SAP Commerce Cloud with CCv2 and based on Kyma infrastructure. Previously in CCv1, SAP hosted and deployed all infrastructure related changes. Now with CCv2, Customers can deploy their code in the cloud with higher scalability. Customer have the flexibility to pay only for the infrastructure they are using, and server configuration can dynamically increase with traffic of eCommerce site.
With continuous evolving SmartEdit, SAP Cloud Platform Integration, and Spartacus support, SAP Commerce Cloud is getting better day by day. Commitment of customer experience with all the standard features to reduce the project time cycle is an important part of this version release.
I will explain some important features of version 2005 in later part of this blog.
- Commerce OCC APIs:
1) On top of the previous version 1905, Now B2C storefront supports Cancel and returns order. Since Spartacus has already supported Cancel and return order, we can use a new version of Spartacus 1.5.0.
2) Previously we need to install the OCC add-on but for the new version it is an extension.
3) Both B2B and B2C can run in one source code or instance.
4) Autocomplete of customer lookup in ASM.
- Backoffice Framework:
1) Solr search has been improved by inverse index lookup.
2) Introducing Visual Workflow Template Designer to create and modify workflow templates.
- SmartEdit:
1) Now you can create versions of your changes and even after permanent delete, you can recover it from Trash.
2) WCMS Cockpit is back from retirement in SAP Commerce Cloud.
3) Most importantly Single sign on feature is now available in SmartEdit.

- Now we have enable default user from BackOffice explicitly, SAP disable all of them in OOB.

- Some Miscellaneous Release:
1) Y2ysyncdemoelectronics and Import cockpit extensions are no longer part of SAP Commerce Cloud with 2005 release.
2) EOL of Version 1808, 1811 and 1905 has been increased till 29th August 2021.
3) With Drool 7.21, the Performance of Promotion and Rule engine has been improved significantly.
4) Support of Oracle 19c and spring 5.2.3 are welcome which much needed API for FlexibleSearchService, it will use to detect changes in items.
With no new feature added in Datahub in the last two major releases, Are SAP signing off slowing from Datahub? Let ’s wait for the SAP Announcement for this.
